The Saltee Ocean Pledge

Make waves of change

Working towards the United Nations Sustainability Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

Refuse | Reuse | Recycle | Repeat.

I refuse what I don’t need, refill when I can, reuse what’s available, and recycle where possible - because every choice makes waves.

Local, Sustainable Dining & Shopping

I pledge to eat and shop locally, supporting producers, makers, and venues that protect the ocean.

Zero Single-Use Plastic

I pledge to live single-use plastic free - refusing straws, bags, bottles, and packaging I don’t need. I will always dispose of my waste correctly; not in the ocean, not on the street.

Eco-Friendly Practices

I pledge to reduce my environmental footprint by choosing to walk, ride a bike, or use transport wherever I can.

#4Ocean

I pledge to pick up rubbish every time I visit the beach or surrounds because small actions avoid ocean pollution and make big waves of change.

Give Wildlife Space

I pledge to observe animals from a distance, and never feed, touch, or disturb them.

Respect the Local Neighbourhood

I pledge to honour the places I visit by being kind, quiet, clean, and considerate.

Leave What I Find Behind

I pledge to take only memories and photos.

Plan Ahead & Prepare

I pledge to research, pack responsibly, and stay informed to ensure my travels are both safe and sustainable.

Locally Sourced Living

Whether it’s eating, drinking, or staying, I pledge to prioritise local products that tread lightly on the earth and respect the ocean.

Support Eco & Sustainable Tourism

I pledge to choose tours, stays, and experiences that protect ecosystems, support local livelihoods, and give back to communities.

Conserve Resources

I pledge to respect the precious resources we share by using only what I need - food, water, power, and fuel.
